Love Frame

I made this scrapbook frame for my boyfriend for our 6-month dating anniversary.  I picked a few of my favorite couple pictures of us to include.  The top picture is our first ever couple picture, taken at a friend's party last spring.  The middle photo was taken on the 4th of July.  And the third was taken by my boyfriend's brother in Time Square.

One of my favorite aspects of this project is the metal plaque with the saying, "Two people who belong together make a world."  I love special accents like that.  But note that it is particularly important to attach the page to the frame, so that the weight of the page doesn't pull it off.

I think this turned out super cute!  As you can see, this is the first frame I have done that uses multiple pictures.  But it can be done!

Always Frame

I made this as a gift for my friends Daniela and Kahlil after they got engaged.  It is pretty basic, but I know that Daniela was thrilled with it.  She's a pink girl, so it was perfect!  And I had fun making it.  Such a great picture of those two!

Sister Frame

This is a gift I made for my sister for one of her birthdays.  Can you tell I love this girl?  I am nine years her elder, but we are great friends.

For this project, I did not use a shadow box frame.  I used more of a regular frame, but it worked perfectly well, even with the letters and other embellishments not being totally flat!

Summer Travel Album

This is a scrapbook album that I made for myself after traveling to the West Coast (San Francisco, California and Portland, Oregon) during the summer of 2009.

I used a travel-themed album and purchased a travel-themed paper pack.  I find paper packs really helpful in grounding the theme and keeping me organized, especially when they are on sale.

You can see that true to scrapbooking form, where applicable, I like to include other things besides pictures, such as; tickets, brochures, maps, postcards, etc. - things that add character to the album.

Family Frame

I made this scrapbook frame as a gift for my grandparents.  Just as for the Friends Frame, I usd a shadow box frame - although white instead of black this time to match their decor - and actually attached the scrapbook page to the frame part so that it would stay flat.

Friends Frame

I love making scrapbook frames!  I think it is a great way to utilize scrapbooking if you have only one or a few pictures that you want to celebrate, and you want something to hang on a wall, rather than an album to be put on a shelf or table.  I made this frame for one of my friend's, Andrea's, birthday.

One of the coolest and most fun aspects of this project, I think, are the Scrabble tiles I used to spell out our names.  There is a really cool store in Ann Arbor called Found, where I purchased the Scrabble tiles from.  This place is truly a haven for crafters and collectors!

Bat Mitzvah Album

I made this album for my sister after her Bat Mitzvah several years ago.  While she has a standard album from the photographer, I decided to put together the pictures that we took throughout the weekend.  I kept the pages pretty general, rather than themed, and I think that has its pros and cons.  But overall, I think it turned out pretty good.  And most importantly, my sister loved it!

Welcome!!!

Hi, everyone!  Welcome to my blog about scrapbooking.  This page will be a place to share projects, but it is also my hope to be able to start a scrapbooking business, called Creating Everlasting Memories.  I started scrapbooking a few years ago, but have recently discovered that it is something I find enjoyable and relaxing.  I would love to do it on the side, while I work on completing my PhD in Sociology.

I feel like a lot of people get their start this way, taking a hobby and turning it into something meaningful that can be shared with others.

That is exactly what I hope to do!  I love being creative, laying out pages, and creating memorable ways to display pictures and other mementos.

I am currently based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but would love to work with you if you are looking for something special for yourself or as a gift for someone else, regardless of where you are.

I'll be uploading pictures and details of some of my completed projects, many of which have been gifts that I have made for other people.

I really hope that you like what you see here, and that you will contact me at gettingclosertomyself@gmail.com, if would like to discuss my creations, and how I could help you create everlasting memories.
